Principal Investigator

Emil Coccaro M.D.

Study Description

The University of Chicago is conducting a research study. This study involves a series of three (3) visits. You will receive a confidential, no-cost, evaluation to see if you qualify to enter. Study procedures include: blood collection for plasma and gene expression, medical/physical examination, screening interview, fMRI scan of your brain, and a lumbar puncture for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). During an fMRI scan we will look at how the brain works in social and emotional situations in people who have recurrent problems with aggression and a history of aggressive behavior and in people who do not have a history of aggressive behavior. The Clinical Research Center (CRC) will also perform a lumbar puncture to examine certain inflammatory markers in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). You will be compensated for selected research procedures and may receive up to $400 over the time of the study in addition to reimbursement for parking or public transportation costs.
