FMRI STUDIES OF A COMPETITIVE SOCIAL TASK

STUDY DESCRIPTION

If you have directly experienced a traumatic event in your life, you may qualify to participate in a research study. Dr. Jennifer Fanning, PhD, at The University of Chicago is conducting a research study on the effects of stress on the brain and mental health.

This study involves two (2) or three (3) visits. You will receive a confidential, no-cost, evaluation to see if you qualify to enter. Study procedures include: Screening interview, medical history, questionnaires, and computer tasks during an fMRI scan of your brain. You will be compensated for participating and may receive up to $250 over the time of the study in addition to reimbursement for parking or public transportation costs.

Eligibility

  • Directly experienced or witnessed traumatic events in your life and NOT taking any psychiatric medication.
  • Between the ages of 18 and 50.
  • Meet other eligibility requirements as outlined by the research protocol.
